2. He’s Asking for A Friend
On the same line of reasoning, a guy might be asking you if you’re sleeping with someone on behalf of a friend.
After all, it’s a pretty bold question to ask.
It’s very similar to asking someone out, so a lot of guys will not have a friend do it on their behalf in case they hear something they don’t want to!
3. He Wants to Be Friends with Benefits
A guy might ask this question rather than asking if you’re seeing someone in a girlfriend/boyfriend situation as he just wants something casual himself.
Wording it this way certainly gives the impression that he’s more interested in a physical relationship than he is a long-term one.
4. He Thinks You’re Seeing Someone and This Is How He Asks
A guy might think you’re already seeing someone and he’s trying to gauge whether or not you’d be interested in seeing him too, instead of, or just want to hear it for himself.

The final possibility is that a guy is just trying to be funny or inappropriate and this is his way of doing it.

First of all, the most important thing to remember is that you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.
It’s a very personal question and you should never feel like you need to answer someone if you don’t want to – no matter if he’s a friend or not.
Secondly, you need to decide if you like the guy and want to let him know that, or if you don’t like him and don’t want to give him the wrong impression.
If you like the guy, you could say something like:
“I’m not sleeping with anyone at the moment, are you?”, or
“I’m not involved with anyone, but I’m open to offers!”
This makes it clear that you’re not sleeping or seeing anyone and shows that you’re interested in him in a (slightly) subtle, flirty way.
