Here’s Why I Created Self Development Journey
Hey, my name is Phil and I’m the founder here at Self Development Journey, have you ever asked yourself any questions similar to these:
“Why do I feel although I have no real purpose in life?”
“Why can I not change any of my bad habits?”
“How can I better myself, progress my career, and improve my health?”
“Why do I never feel satisfied with my life?”
If you have been dwelling over any of these types of thoughts and questions, or if you’re always thinking and looking for more answers, you’ve come to the right place.
I have been fascinated by psychology, the human mind, human behavior, and all of the mechanics of what make us tick and drive our motivation for years.
After studying and passing a degree in psychology at the University of Bath in the UK, then working in practice, I decided I wanted more.
I was always looking for a blog that shared and discussed ideas covering self-development, ways people can improve themselves, progress their careers ethically, and find ways to discover the best in themselves.
You see, I’ve been through quite the journey of self-development myself. I know that lots of visitors here either will have or are going through their own journey after deciding to better their lives.
It’s not an easy journey, and I remember the people, resources, and sites that helped me when I needed them. This is why I’m here to help in any way I can.
There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self.
― Aldous Huxley
You Deserve to Be Happy
If you’re going through a rough patch in your life right now, you need to know that things will work out – if you want them to and can find the strength to work at it.
We all deserve to be happy and enjoy our lives. Sometimes we lose sight of this goal when we’re in the whirlwind of our daily routines.
Maybe your job gets you down, things at home aren’t as good as they once were, or you have money troubles.
You can get your life back on track, and on the right track. With some self-reflection, a methodical approach, and the right help, you can turn your life around. Trust me, I’ve done it.
It wasn’t easy, and I had to confront some painful realizations. But when you do, and you’re honest with yourself – it’s the most liberating feeling in the world.
Throughout this blog, you will find numerous posts on happiness, and plenty of actionable tips and advice to help you on that path.
People will choose unhappiness over uncertainty.

Start Making Changes Today
The hardest step to take is the very first step. Each and every step after the first one becomes a little easier.
I know you’re thinking ‘’it’s easier said than done”, but I have done it. So I know how difficult it is, and I know how to make it easier for you.
It’s ok to look for help when making changes in your life, in fact, I totally recommend that.
Taking the advice of others, being shown techniques and tips you never thought of, and enriching your life with information can only help.
But be careful with the information you choose to follow. Make sure it’s a good fit for you, and make sure you’re reading information from people who have taken those steps.
This is why all the content on this site is either written by me from first-hand experience, or by someone else equally as qualified.
If you’re looking for answers to a particular problem on your own self-development journey, start now. Don’t wait until tomorrow. Browse the topics here that interest you, and if you have any questions, reach out to me.
Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right.
Feel Free to Reach out to Me
Self-Development Journey isn’t just another self-help site with a collection of articles. This site is here to help each and every visitor find answers to their questions and find their purpose in life.
You see, I’ve read loads of self-help blogs. But I became tired of reading the same old information repurposed. Plus, there never seemed to be a real tangible person behind the site.
I wanted someone I could relate to, someone who actually understands what it is to go through self-development. This is why I put myself out there on this blog, I respond to comments, emails, and questions.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me – contactselfdevelopmentjourney@gmail.com, or use the contact page.
I wish you luck on your own self-development journey. I am the happiest I have ever been right now, and I wish the same for everyone else.
Social Media
I’m still working on my own social media accounts, but it’s something I don’t have a lot of time for right now.
In the meantime, for those who enjoy browsing social media, here are some accounts and resources I hope you’ll find as insightful and helpful as I have:
- Jordan Peterson on Instagram – Inspirational and motivating quotes and information.
- Tony Robbins on Instagram – Need I explain who Tony Robbins is?
- TED Talks on Twitter – I’m a huge fan of Ted Talks, very educational.
- Dan Pena on Twitter – One of the world’s best performance coaches who doesn’t hold back.
- Dave Ramsey on LinkedIn – Personal finance coach, motivational speaker, and more.
I really do hope you find everything you’re looking for – and more – on this site, and please, do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or need any more information!
