Just about everyone has heard of Henry Ford.
He was one of those remarkable people who seemed to be far ahead of his time.
Not only do we have Henry Ford to thank for where modern day motor vehicles, and for where the combustion engine is today. But for many truly motivational and inspirational quotes.
Many of his quotes are used and referred to today by thousands worldwide. No doubt some in this post will be familiar to you.
Here are some of my personal favorites, and some quotes that should really stimulate your own creative thoughts and motivations.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.
This is my personal favorite, and a quote that rang in my ears from the very first time I heard it.
It’s all about a person’s’ mindset. If you don’t believe or think you can do something, you’re already defeated.
Henry Ford probably didn’t practice positive thinking and visualization consciously. Not many did in those days. Yet here he is with a perfect example of it.
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.
I can’t preach often enough how it’s perfectly fine to fail, as long as you learn from your failures.
This quote sums it up perfectly. Just try again more intelligently.
Don’t find a fault, find a remedy.
This is similar to one of the first things my first boss ever said to me. When I came to him with a problem, he said ‘come to me with the solution, not the problem’.
Timeless advice as always, as relevant today as it was when Ford first said it.
Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.
Here you go, if you’re looking for advice on how to stay young and on point. Ford was still active and working into his eighties. Not just an impressive feat to see such a thing today, but more so in the 40’s.
I have a goal to learn something new weekly. Try this yourself, it’s remarkably addictive.
Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.
Three key parts to a successful, flourishing working and personal relationship.
This quote says so much more when you read it through a few times.
If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said ‘faster horses.’
This quote is basically saying that sometimes you have to be inventive and think outside the box.
Before the combustion engine people used horses and that’s all they knew. So they would have asked for a faster horse as Mr Ford said. He instead thought about what he could design that was completely different.
Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is probably the reason so few engage in it.
Anyone who has invented, pioneered, or designed something special did so by thinking. We could all benefit from taking some time out of our routines and thinking a little more.
If you have ideas, no matter how obscure you think they are try writing them down. Follow through on your ideas, you might just hit on the next big thing.
Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.
What I love about this quote is it’s no truer than in the case of Mr Ford himself. He lived into his eighties, and was still heavily involved in his business until near to his death.
He was always developing new ideas and working on his business. The best way to stay young at heart and in mind is to keep your mind active.
There is no man living who isn’t capable of doing more than he thinks he can do.
This is a similar quote to something my father always said to me, and it’s true. We are all capable of doing more, and should always strive to do so.
Think for a moment now, is there something you want to do but always put off because you don’t think you can do it for some reason? Now’s the time.
You don’t have to hold a position in order to be a leader.
Put aside titles and positions. How you act and what you do to inspire others is what makes you a leader.
I also believe that leaders earn respect, it’s not given to them with their position. We all have something to offers others, take those in need under your wing and lead by example.
