What Should I Do if I’m Being Taken Advantage of At Work
If you feel like you are being taken advantage of at work, the first thing you should do is try to address the issue with your supervisor or HR department.
It’s important to be honest and direct about how you feel and to provide specific examples of the behavior that is making you uncomfortable.
It’s also important to try to approach the situation in a calm and professional manner, as getting emotional or confrontational will not be helpful.
Don’t point fingers either, you don’t want your boss or manager to feel like you’re blaming them for your position.
Simply state why you can’t physically or mentally deal with your workload or the reasons why you think you’re being taken advantage of.
Anyone in a position of power should be able to see the situation from your perspective and, hopefully, address the issues you’re facing.
If this fails, it could be time to look for a new job. No one should have to work in a situation that they feel is unfair or makes them uncomfortable.
Your mental and physical health will only suffer in the long run and you’ll end up resenting your job.
Take care of yourself and make sure you’re in a situation that makes you feel valued as an employee!

- Prioritize your tasks: Make a list of everything you need to do and prioritize the most important tasks. This can help you manage your time more effectively and avoid feeling overwhelmed.
- Exercise regularly: Exercise is a great way to reduce stress and improve your overall health. Try to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine, whether it’s a walk during your lunch break or a fitness class after work.
- Ask for help: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, never be afraid to ask for help from your colleagues or supervisor. They may be able to offer support or provide guidance on how to manage your workload more effectively.
- Remember, you’re not trapped: It’s easy to feel trapped in a job, especially if you’re under financial pressure. But you’re never trapped, there are always opportunities on the job market, you just need to be proactive with looking!
