Did you recently have an interaction with a cop and come away feeling like they were flirting with you?
Don’t be too surprised, cops are human and perfectly capable of flirting if they like someone.
They do have to remain professional, but it doesn’t mean they won’t flirt a little – or a lot.
To help you out, here are 10 signs a cop is flirting with you!
10 Signs a Cop Is Flirting with You!
1. They Find Any Excuse to Talk to You
Cops are busy people and while it’s true that they’re here to serve the public, it’s rare that a cop will keep finding an excuse to talk to the same person.
Unless that is, they’re either in trouble a lot (I’m sure you’re not) or the cop likes that person and wants to get to know them better.
If there is a particular cop that keeps finding you and talking to you it’s a strong sign that they’re flirting with you and like you.

2. They Take Their Time While Talking to You
It’s a cop’s duty to serve and protect the public, but one thing they’re usually short on is time.
That is, of course, unless the cop has an invested interest in a certain someone!
If a cop takes their time while talking to you, especially if they have no real reason to be talking to you, it means that they’re flirting with you.
3. They Tell You to Contact Them Anytime
If a cop tells you that you can contact them anytime, not only does it feel good to know they’re there to protect you – but it’s also a sign they’re flirting with you!
It’s a way of telling you that they want to hear from you and that if you need anything (even a date), they’re just a phone call away.
If they give you their personal number this is just the icing on the cake.
4. They Ask if You’re Single
This is a big sign and a classic sign that anyone is flirting with you or interested to get to know you better in a romantic sense.
While a cop might not come out and say they’re interested in you, asking if you’re single is a way of gauging your relationship status and also being a bit obvious about it.
5. They Find Reasons to Make Physical Contact with You
A cop isn’t going to abuse their power and pat you down for any old reason, but they might find other ways to make contact with you.
This could be anything from a light touch on the arm to gripping you and asking if you’re OK if you were involved in any kind of incident.
If they’re constantly finding reasons to touch you it’s a surefire sign they’re flirting with you.
6. They Let Their Guard Down
Cops are trained to be professional at all times and they have to maintain a certain persona when out on the job.
But if a cop starts to let their guard down around you and comes across a lot more casual and personable, it means that they trust you and feel comfortable around you.
It’s a sign that they like you and want to get to know you better and want you to know them for who they are and not just as a cop.
7. They Ask if You’ve Ever Dated a Cop
There is a stigma to dating a cop, so a lot of cops will try and feel out if it’s something you’ve done or have an opinion on if they’re interested in you.
If they ask you this question it means that they’re trying to gauge your interest in dating a cop and also whether or not you have any preconceived notions about dating one.
As long as you say you’re interested in trying it or don’t have any reservations, I’m sure they’ll step up their flirting!
8. They Call You to Check How You’re Doing
If you’ve been the victim of a crime or have had any kind of dealings with the police, it’s not unusual for them to check up on you afterwards to see how you’re doing.
But if a cop goes out of their way or above and beyond the call of duty to check in and see how you’re doing, it’s a sign they care about you and are interested in you.
It’s a way of them trying to take steps into your life and get to know you better for sure.
9. They Make Good Eye Contact and Smile at You
This is a classic sign of flirting whether it’s a cop, your neighbor, someone in the grocery store, etc.
I think smiling carries a little more weight from a policeman or woman, however, as they should be nice but not overly friendly.
Maybe they’re just super friendly, but there is a good chance that they think you’re attractive and want to let you know.
10. They Try and Make You Laugh
This is another classic sign that someone is flirting with you, but it’s not something you expect from a member of law enforcement while on duty.
But if a cop goes out of their way to try and make you laugh or smile, it means they want to make a good impression on you and want you to think they’re fun and approachable.
It’s a way of breaking the ice and getting to know you in a more personal way, and of course to get a feel for if you like them and find them funny.

Should You Flirt Back With A Cop?
If you think a cop is flirting with you and you like them, you absolutely should flirt back!
I mean, how often do you get hit on by a hot cop?
It might not lead to anything serious but it’ll definitely be a fun story to tell your friends, and you never know where it might lead.
Don’t be surprised if they keep things professional while they’re on duty, it’s a good sign that they’re trustworthy if they do.
Don’t worry, if they like you they’ll find a way to find you and reach out to you when they’re not on duty!

Cops need to stay away from women in the Mafia.
I sometimes try to smile or show an appreciative look in a cops direction as often as I can But I don’t want to give a wrong impression. The way I see it is this…Cops are human too….not a disease we can catch…so don’t just look the other way thinking they might give you a ticket if you acknowledge them sitting at the light next to you. Just smile …it says a lot….it also says THANK YOU for their valued service.
