I really like this feature. Not only is it cool to see those emojis, but I lose track of who I’m snapping the most as I’m addicted to snapping as I’m sure you are!

What Are Best Friends on Snapchat?
I know what you’re thinking, you know who your best friends are.
Well, within Snapchat your best friends are the friends who you Snap and Chat with most often, so that might not be the people you’re actually best friends with.
You can have up to 8 best friends on Snapchat, and each of your friends will have an emoji assigned to them that means something different.
You can’t manually assign or change the emojis, but you can also change who your best friends are by sending more Snaps to certain people.
Oh, and it’s worth mentioning that only you and your friends can see who you’re liked to via the best friends system.
What’s After the Yellow Heart on Snapchat?
You may have noticed that there are different color hearts and other emojis on Snapchat, you actually have to graduate or progress to get through the ranks.
The current heart ranking system for besties is:
- Yellow heart emoji – This is the first of the heart emojis and means you’re best friends with someone and the two of you send each other the most Snaps.
- Red heart emoji – This is the next heart color and it means you’ve been each other’s best friend for two weeks in a row!
- Pink heart emoji – This is the final heart color and means you’ve been each other’s best friend for two months in a row!

What Does a Regular Smiley Mean on Snapchat?
You will probably have noticed that most of your friends have a regular smiley face next to their profile.
This just means that they’re one of your best friends and you two snap a lot back and forth, but they’re not your best friend or the number one person you snap with.
If you want them to be one of your besties and get a star next to their name, you better start paying them more attention and start snapping them more than your other friends!
