A Little History About Christmas
I thought I’d add a little history about Christmas, as what we know as the day today and how we celebrate it is very different from its origins.
As you probably know, Christmas is a Christian holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.
The word Christmas actually derives from the Old English phrase “Cristes maesse” which means “Christ’s Mass.”
Today, Christmas is celebrated on December 25th every year and is a time when families and friends come together to celebrate.
Christmas is also a time of giving, as many people give gifts to their loved ones on Christmas day.
Back when it first originated, of course, Christmas wasn’t nearly as commercialized as it is today.
It wasn’t until the 19th century that Christmas began to take on the look and feel of what it is today.
It was during this time that Christmas trees and Christmas lights became popular, as well as Christmas carols and Christmas parties.
Everyone who celebrates Christmas does so in their own way, I just wish you a Merry Christmas and hope you have an awesome one!
