I’ve put together a list of words that are easy to spell and sound – as well as some more difficult words – and they all begin with the letter N.
From ‘nail’ to ‘nationwide’, the letter N is responsible for some fun and interesting words!
Easy Words That Start With N
Nail – a small metal spike with a broadened flat head, driven into wood to join things together or to serve as a hook.
Nope – variant of no.
Nose – the part projecting above the mouth on the face of a person or animal, containing the nostrils and used for breathing and smelling.
Nosy – showing too much curiosity about other people’s affairs.
Not – used with an auxiliary verb or ‘be’ to form the negative.
Now – at the present time or moment.
Nun – a member of a religious community of women, typically one living under vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience.
Medium Difficulty Words That Start With N
Naive – (of a person or action) showing a lack of experience, wisdom, or judgment.
Namely – that is to say; to be specific (used to introduce detailed information or a specific example).
Naming – give a name to.
Narrow – of small width in relation to length.
Nationwide – extending or reaching throughout a whole nation.
Native – a person born in a specified place or associated with a place by birth, whether subsequently resident there or not.
Natural – existing in or derived from nature; not made or caused by humankind.
Nausea – a feeling of sickness with an inclination to vomit.
Navigate – plan and direct the course of a ship, aircraft, or other form of transport, especially by using instruments or maps.
Nearly – very close to; almost.
Neglect – fail to care for properly.
Neighbor – a person living next door to or very near to the speaker or person referred to.
Neither – used before the first of two (or occasionally more) alternatives (the others being introduced by ‘nor’) to indicate that they are each untrue or each does not happen.
Nephew – a son of one’s brother or sister, or of one’s brother-in-law or sister-in-law.
Network – an arrangement of intersecting horizontal and vertical lines.
Neutral – not supporting or helping either side in a conflict, disagreement, etc.; impartial.
Newborn – (of a child or animal) recently or just born.
Newfound – recently discovered or established.
Nightmare – a frightening or unpleasant dream.
Nobody – no person; no one.
Nomad – a member of a people that travels from place to place to find fresh pasture for its animals and has no permanent home.
Nominee – a person who is nominated as a candidate for election or for an honor or award.
None – not any.
Normal – conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected.
Nostalgia – a sentimental longing or wistful affection for a period in the past.
Notebook – a small book with blank or ruled pages for writing notes in.
Nourish – provide with the food or other substances necessary for growth, health, and good condition.
Novice – a person new to and inexperienced in a job or situation.
Nuclear – relating to the nucleus of an atom.
Number – an arithmetical value, expressed by a word, symbol, or figure, representing a particular quantity and used in counting and making calculations.
Numerous – great in number; many.
Nurture – care for and protect (someone or something) while they are growing.
Nutshell – the hard woody covering around the kernel of a nut.
Nylon – a tough, lightweight, elastic synthetic polymer with a protein-like chemical structure, able to be produced as filaments, sheets, or molded objects.
