This is why I’ve put together a list of words beginning with the letter D below covering finance, economics, and general business topics – to help you find those words.
If you want to come across as professional and business-savvy, you absolutely have to use the right industry lingo. Arguably, it’s more important in the business world than most other industries.

Business Words That Start With D
Data Analytics – the science of analyzing raw data to make conclusions about that information.
Day Trading – a form of share dealing in which individuals buy and sell shares over the internet over a period of a single day’s trading, with the intention of profiting from small price fluctuations.
Dead Cat Bounce – a temporary recovery in share prices after a substantial fall, caused by speculators buying in order to cover their positions.
Debt – a sum of money that is owed or due.
Deep Dive – an in-depth examination or analysis of a topic.
Deferred Tax – tax that is payable in the future.
Defined Benefit Pension – a type of pension plan in which an employer/sponsor promises a specified pension payment, lump-sum, or combination thereof on retirement.
Deflation – the action or process of deflating or being deflated.
Deliverable – able to be delivered.
Deliverables – a thing able to be provided, especially as a product of a development process.
Demand-Pull Inflation – describes the effects of an imbalance in aggregate supply and demand.
Demutualization – a process by which a private, member-owned company, changes its structure legally to become a public-traded company owned by shareholders.
Deposition – the giving of sworn evidence.
Depreciation – a reduction in the value of an asset over time, due in particular to wear and tear.
Depression – a long and severe recession in an economy or market.
Derivatives – an arrangement or product (such as a future, option, or warrant) whose value derives from and is dependent on the value of an underlying asset, such as a commodity, currency, or security.
Devaluation – the reduction in the official value of a currency in relation to other currencies.
Digital Marketing – the promotion of brands to connect with potential customers using the internet and other forms of digital communication.
Diminishing Returns – proportionally smaller profits or benefits derived from something as more money or energy is invested in it.
Disinvestment – the withdrawal or reduction of an investment.
Disruption – radical change to an existing industry or market due to technological innovation.
Divergence – the process or state of diverging.
Dividend – a sum of money paid regularly (typically annually) by a company to its shareholders out of its profits (or reserves).
Dividend Yield – a dividend expressed as a percentage of a current share price.
Double Entry – denoting a system of bookkeeping in which each transaction is entered as a debit in one account and a credit in another.
Downside Risk – an estimation of a security’s potential loss in value if market conditions precipitate a decline in that security’s price.
Drill Down – examine or analyze something in further depth.
Drive – relating to the motivation or encouragement for a person or business to accelerate growth, sales, etc.
Dynamic – to constantly adapt to respond to consumers’ wants and needs.
There is a good amount of descriptive and useful business-related words beginning with the letter D that you should be able to use in a lot of situations.
I found some of these words really interesting myself. ‘Double Entry’ reminds me of when I was doing my accounting degree. ‘Digital Marketing’ is something I’m involved in today, and ‘Debt’ is a word you rarely want to hear..
