God is always watching over us and often will send signs that we need to remove someone, include someone, or change who we’re spending time with.
He does this for our own good, and often if you look at the overall picture around the signs God is sending it makes perfect sense!
Here are 5 signs god is trying to remove someone from your life and why you should pay attention to red flags or signals you’re seeing:
1. You Feel Stressed and Anxious Around the Person
If you’re feeling stressed and anxious around someone, these are negative emotions that I’m sure you’re aware you need to remove from your life.
If you’ve been praying for relief from your stress and anxiety without a positive answer from God, it’s a strong sign that he wants you to remove this person from your life.
I can’t tell you the reason, but it sounds like God knows that simply helping relieve your stress will not stop the underlying problem – this toxic person.
A bible verse I always refer to when managing stress is;
Philippians 4:6: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
When you remove this person from your life I think you’ll find praying with thanksgiving will start to relieve your anxiety!

2. You Feel Restless when Thinking About the Person
Many of the signs God will send you – and I know this to be true with me – come when I’m relaxing and not involved with the person in question.
If you’re feeling restless when you’re apart from the person, especially when you’re thinking of them, again this is negative energy you could do without.
This is especially true if you can’t put your finger on what it is about this person that’s making you feel restless.
It means that God is sending you a sign by making you feel restless. You should pay attention, if you want the restless feeling to go away you need to make a change in your life!
It reminds me of the bible verse; James 3:8: which says, “But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison.”
3. This Person Often Makes You Angry
You should not feel angry around anyone, especially not on a regular basis – and definitely not all the time!
If being around someone makes you angry, it’s going to affect all aspects of your life.
The Bible states that anger is not always a sin, but it can be very destructive in the wrong circumstances.
Ephesians 4:26: says, “In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.”
If your anger around this person does not seem to be dissipating even with prayer, it’s a sign from God that you need to distance yourself from them to resolve the issue.
4. You Have Very Different Views and Goals from Them
Drifting apart from someone doesn’t mean in itself that you should push someone out of your life.
But if you’re seeing or feeling some of the other signs that this person isn’t bringing joy to our life – or worse they’re making you unhappy – you need to consider it.
One of the most influential things we can do in life is to surround ourselves with the right people and remove the negative people.
The more we do this, the more we will benefit.
The bible verse that comes to mind here is; Proverbs 13:20, “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.”
5. You Get a Strong Gut Feeling or Instinct You Need to Remove Them
Lastly, this is something that is hard to quantify for a lot of us but is so often one of the most reliable signs.
If you get a strong gut feeling that it’s time to let this person go, trust that instinct.
God is speaking through your conscience and if you feel strongly that it’s time to part ways with them for the good of your mental and spiritual well-being, you have to do it.
God speaks to us through many ways, but especially through our conscience.
So if you have a strong feeling that this person is not good for your life, trust it, be honest with yourself, and no matter how difficult it is, you have to listen!

What Are Some Signs that God Is Trying to Tell You Something?
If you needed further reassurance, I thought I’d cover some of the most common signs that God is trying to tell us something:
1. You Feel Lost
It’s hard to explain the feeling of being ‘lost’ as it means different things to different people.
But if you’re feeling unsure of what direction to go in life, this could be a sign from God that it’s time to take stock and think about it.
2. You Feel the Need to Pray
When we have a strong desire to pray and seek God’s help, this is often a sign that we need guidance.
Whether you know why you’re praying and what for or not, if you feel the desire to pray it’s a strong sign that God is leading you.
3. You Feel a Strong Desire to Do Something
Just as you may feel the desire to pray if you also feel a strong desire to do other things and make lifestyle changes it’s a sign that God is trying to tell you something.
This is where I recommend listening to your gut, heart, and head, and allow God to lead you.
4. You Get a Strong Sense God Is Speaking to You
Again this is something that is going to mean profoundly different things to different people.
But if you get a strong sense that God is speaking to you in some way, whether that means through prayer or through other people’s words, it’s a sign that you should pay attention!
