How to use the random picker

Using the Random Picker is simple and intuitive. Start by adding items to your list using the text input field – just type an item and press Enter or click the Plus button.

You can also import multiple items at once using the Import button, which allows you to paste items separated by line breaks, commas, or other delimiters.

If you need to organize your list you can drag and drop items to reorder them, edit text by clicking on any item, or toggle item visibility using the eye icon.

When you’re ready to make a random selection, simply click the “Spin” button (for the wheel), “Deal Card” button, or tap the Magic 8-Ball, depending on your chosen visualization. The Random Picker will randomly select one item from your list and display it prominently.

Your selection history is automatically tracked and can be viewed by clicking the Results button, allowing you to see statistics on how often each item has been selected.

Use cases

The Random Picker can help in many scenarios:

• What to eat for dinner – enter foods suggestions from the group and let the random picker decide!
• Name picker – picking a name is hard especially if you have several that you like. Enter them in the random picker and give it a few spins and leave it up to chance. Which would also be a great boy name.
• Color picker – my wife and I have used it for picking a color for our kitchen
• Game Nights: Use it as a fair way to determine player order, select challenges, or pick game categories.
• Team Management: Randomly assign tasks, select team members for projects, or decide who brings snacks to the next meeting.
• Giveaways and Contests: Ensure fair winner selection for promotions or social media contests.
• Meal Planning: Add your favorite recipes and let the picker suggest what to cook each day of the week.
• Exercise Routines: Create a list of exercises and use the picker to build a random workout routine.
• Writing Prompts: Writers can use it to select random themes, characters, or settings to spark creativity.

Visualizations

The Random Picker offers three engaging visualizations to make the selection process more enjoyable:

• Wheel: The classic spinning wheel divides into colorful segments for each item on your list. Watch as it spins and gradually slows down until it lands on your randomly selected item.

• Cards: This visualization displays your items as a deck of cards. Click the “Deal Card” button to shuffle the deck and deal a random card with your selected item.

• Magic 8-Ball: Inspired by the classic fortune-telling toy, this visualization presents your random selection with a nostalgic flair. Tap or click the ball to watch it shake and reveal your randomly selected item.

Each visualization offers the same random selection functionality with different interactive experiences, allowing you to choose the style that best fits your mood or audience.
