How Do You Know for Sure if Your Partner Is Autistic or On the Spectrum?
If you answered ‘yes’ to several of the questions above, it might indicate that your boyfriend is autistic or on the autism spectrum.
However, it’s important to remember that there is no definitive answer and only a qualified professional can diagnose autism.
I used the NHS website, which is the UK’s national health service, to find a list of signs that an adult has autism.
So, the signs above are accurate, but this doesn’t mean you’re interpreting them correctly.
To be sure, it’s best to have professional input from a qualified physician!
What Should You Do if You Think Your Partner Is Autistic?
The first thing you need to do is seek a professional assessment if your boyfriend is willing to go.
This assessment will be able to confirm or deny your suspicions, and it can also provide you with support, advice, and information about living with a partner on the autism spectrum.
It’s important to remember that there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to autism and everyone is different.
The real question is; how are his behaviors affecting you and your relationship?
If you’re finding it difficult to live with – or deal with – some of his traits and behaviors, that’s something you need to address for the good of your relationship.
