Is It Inappropriate for A Boss to Have a Crush on An Employee?
Yes, it is generally considered inappropriate for a boss to have a crush on one of their coworkers or an employee they’re in a position of power over.
When someone is in a position of power and they have a romantic interest in someone who works for them, it can create a conflict of interest.
In fact, it almost certainly is going to create a conflict of interest and will potentially lead to favoritism.
Even if it doesn’t, it’s going to be hard to convince other coworkers that there isn’t some kind of favoritism going on.
This can make the working environment uncomfortable for the employee and can also be damaging to the boss’s and employer’s reputation.
It is important for bosses to maintain professional boundaries and adhere to a code of conduct and avoid any behavior that could be perceived as inappropriate or harassing.
That doesn’t mean crushes will not happen though, not at all.
Crushes and romantic relationships in the workplace are common, it’s hard to ignore romantic feelings!
What Should You Do if You Also Like Your Boss?
If you can see your boss has feelings for you and you have feelings for them as well, you’re facing a potentially risky situation.
Before acting on your feelings, it’s essential you consider the potential consequences and whether it is worth risking your job and professional reputation.
If you do want to progress with a romantic relationship with your boss, you need to accept that it might cost you your job.
You also need to make sure that your relationship does not affect your work performance, your coworkers, or the way you are treated in the workplace.
It is also important to be aware of any company policies regarding romantic relationships between employees and supervisors.
In some cases, it may be strictly forbidden. If this is the case, you need to really think carefully about the potential fallout for both you and your boss.

What Should You Do if You Don’t Like Your Boss Who Has a Crush on You?
If your boss clearly has a crush on you and is doing things that make it obvious and you’re not comfortable with it, you need to speak to them directly.
This isn’t always easy to do, but you have to say something.
You don’t even have to say something face-to-face if that’s too difficult, you can send them an email, write a note, or do whatever works best for you.
It depends on your situation and the relationship you have with your boss, but I’d say something simple like, “Hey, it feels like you’re getting a bit flirty. I’m here to do my job and I don’t want any misunderstandings.”
It’s important that you don’t make accusations, and don’t be aggressive or confrontational.
Just politely explain that you’re there to do your job and you’d appreciate it if you could both keep your interactions professional.
That should be enough to make your boss take a step back and respect your boundaries.
If not, unfortunately, you’ll have to escalate the issue to your HR department or get some advice from a work issue-related organization.
