Looking for business words that start with W? Whether it’s finance, economics, or general business-related terms, I know how important it is to find the perfect word.

Using the right words in a business situation is incredibly powerful, it can be the difference between making a real difference and missing the mark.

From writing sales copy, internal communications, and mission statements to any other business-related content, using the correct words will help you demonstrate professionalism and evoke the desired response.  

I’m always hunting for specific words to help get a point across or nail relevancy. So, I decided to put together these lists of business-related words to help myself, and you.

Business Words That Start With W

Wages – a fixed regular payment earned for work or services, typically paid on a daily or weekly basis.

Wall Street – refers to all the banks, hedge funds, and securities traders that drive the stock market and the whole American financial system.

Wealth – plentiful supplies of a particular resource.

Web Marketing – the process of using the Internet to market your business.

Weighted Average – takes into account the relative importance or frequency of some factors in a data set.

Wheelhouse – someone’s area of expertise.

Whistleblower – where workers report misconduct, most often seen at work, in order to protect the public.

White Knight – a friendly investor that acquires a corporation at a fair consideration with the support from the corporation’s board of directors and management.

Whole-Of-Life Policy – designed to provide a sum of money (the sum assured) to a customer’s family or estate when the customer dies.

Wholesale – the business of selling of goods in large quantities and at low prices, typically to be sold on by retailers at a profit.

Windfall Tax – a tax on what were described as “the excess profits of the privatised utilities” and was introduced by the Labour government (UK) of Tony Blair in 1997.

Winning – gaining, resulting in, or relating to victory in a contest or competition.

Without-Profits Policy – an insurance policy that does not share the benefits of the issuing company.

Word-Of-Mouth – generated from or reliant on oral publicity word-of-mouth customers a word-of-mouth business.

Working Capital – the money available to meet your current, short-term obligations.

Write Down, Write Off – performed in accounting to reduce the value of an asset to offset a loss or expense.

As you can see, there is a handful of business-related words beginning with the letter W that could come in useful for writing copy or describing business activities.

‘Wages’ is of course an important word to employees, and words like ‘Wealth’ and ‘Winning’ are positive words that help describe a successful business or person.
